Dr. Murfree has created a positive environment where his patients can feel like they are part of the family. Our goal is for our patients to receive the best care available in a compassionate, patient-focused practice. Through extensive training and continuing education, Dr. Murfree works to find new ways to care for his patients by providing the most current treatment with minimal discomfort. He enjoys creating beautiful smiles and enhanced self-esteem for patients of all ages. Dr. Murfree was born and raised in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. While participating in mission work, he realized his love for medicine and found a special interest in the dental profession. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology. Dr. Murfree graduated from the University Of Tennessee College of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2006. Dr. Murfree has earned his fellowship, mastership and diplomate awards from the International Dental Implant Association.

American Health Front: In 2014, Dr. Murfree was featured on NBC’s “American Health Front!” an exclusive medical news television program designed to educate viewers about important advances in medical techniques and technologies. Dr. Murfree’s segment focused on affordable, personalized cosmetic dentistry and how it is making a difference in people’s lives every day.

America’s Top Dentists 2011-2022: Dr. Murfree has been recognized as one of “America’s Top Dentists” by Consumers’ Research Council of America.

Best of Roswell 2013-2022: Dr. Murfree has been recognized as “Best of Roswell” for family and cosmetic dentistry.

Virginia Living Magazine: Dr. Murfree was recognized in Virginia Living magazine’s issue “Top Dentists” 2010-2011 before moving to Georgia.

Master of the International Dental Implant Association

Dr. Murfree has earned his Fellowship, Masters and Diplomate degrees from the International Dental Implant Association in advanced-level implant training and grafting. These distinctions are the result of hundreds of hours of expert training and leadership through Implant Seminars, Inc., under the direction the world renowned and respected leader in the implant industry, Dr. Arun Garg.

Advanced Training

In addition to his dental implant training, Dr. Murfree is certified in Invisalign® and oral conscious sedation, has earned his Associate Fellowship in dental lasers from the World Clinical Laser Institute and has received advanced training and education in cosmetic dentistry, preventive dentistry, endodontics (root canals), oral surgery, orthodontics and prosthodontics. By spending hundreds of hours participating in continuing education courses each year, Dr. Murfree has excelled in the latest advances in cosmetic, general, implant and preventive dentistry.

Dr. Murfree is a member of the American Dental Association®, the Georgia Dental Association℠, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the International Dental Implant Association, DOCS Oral Conscious Sedation Society and the Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Murfree enjoys caring for his patients as well as those less fortunate. In 2014 and 2015, Dr. Robert Murfree and his twin brother, Dr. John Murfree, traveled with a group of dentists to the Dominican Republic where they placed dental implants and performed many other oral surgery procedures for patients who could not afford dental care.

In his spare time, Dr. Murfree likes spending time with his family, including his wife and two sons. He enjoys coaching football, bicycling, hiking, water sports, skiing and travel.

Dr. Thomas Lee Dodson has lived in Roswell for over 50 years. After graduating from Roswell High School, he got a degree in Chemical Engineering from Auburn University, than attended University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham, where he earned his degree in 1981. Dr. Dodson has been a member of American Dental Association® and the Academy of General Dentistry since opening his practice in Roswell in 1981. He joined Big Creek Family Dentistry in June 2024.
Dr. Dodson has 15 years experience using the CEREC crown technique which allows him to fabricate most crowns immediately while the patient is in the chair. No temporary crowns, no second visits. He and Dr. Murfree work together, with their skill hygienists, to provide a full range of services, from cleanings to fillings to surgery and implants. Both are especially interested in cosmetic dentistry, including bonding, veneers, crowns and bridges.

Meet Cathie, our friendly and dedicated front office manager. She has been with Big Creek since 2017. She brings a wealth of knowledge to our front office team, managing administrative tasks and efficiency while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for our patients. She is passionate about providing exceptional patient care, ensuring a warm, welcoming and smooth patient experience. With her genuine smile, she is committed to making every patient feel comfortable and valued.

When she is not at the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and especially their two adorable grandbabies. She loves hiking and traveling and always finds time to read a good book.
